Self Study Week 3 -- Terrains and ProBuilder
Hello, for this week's self study for modelling tourist attraction in Tasmania, I have chosen to model the Hobart Waterfront , as it is also an appropriate location for the Sprit of Tasmania model that I created in Self Study Week 1, although I did put it in this scene because the import looks horrible and there are missing walls for some reason.
Reference Picture
unity terrain model:
to create the mountain terrain (specifically mount wellington), I did a bit of research and googling to discover you could use heightmaps to import existing geo data using the terrain toolbox.
To gather information about the heightmap for mount wellington, I used the website: https://heightmap.skydark.pl/
this resulted in the following heightmap picture
this height when inputted into the terrain builder tool resulted in this:
from there, I used the paint texture function to applied rocks and grass textures to the terrain
For the docks, I used the ProBuilder to create it and applied a wooden material to it.
This scene also consists of imported poly assets (cars, buildings, roads, boats, water, materials):
